Copihue Poetry

I came to know about the workshop El Árbol de Gabriela thanks to the poetic meeting Pájaros Errantes in 2023, held in Concepción, Chile. During the event, in which I participated as a poet, I was able to speak with students for a good while along with their teacher Gastón Lazo de la Vega López, the intrepid organizer of the sessions. I came away impressed by the freshness of the group’s thought, and their insistence on the humanity of poetry in a world in which it is ever less valued. Immediately we had the idea of publishing these poems in a bilingual edition, in a magazine, something we are thrilled to finally make concrete after many months of conversations. Hopefully these poems transmit some of the warmth of that meeting and the joy and persistence that are both present within the poetic process.
