Poetry Submissions: Open
Send up to 6 poems to copihuepoetry@gmail.com as a .pdf, .docx, or .doc. Please include all poems in a single document.
The subject line of your email should read as follows:
LAST NAME_FIRST NAME_POETRY For example: MISTRAL_GABRIELA_POETRY
The body of the email should include a cover letter and a brief biography.
Priority is given to work previously unpublished in English, English translation, or Spanish. We will consider previously published pieces from outside of the United States that have received limited international exposure. If you do send something like this, please note the original venue in your cover letter.
For previously unpublished work, we ask for first serial rights. All rights revert back to the author upon the launch of that issue. We do ask that you grant us permission to reprint your poem in future projects and that you credit us if your piece later appears in an anthology, a full-length collection, a collected works, or anywhere else.
Please wait for a response before sending us any new submissions. If you receive a rejection, we kindly ask that you wait six months before submitting again, unless specifically prompted to send more work.
We try to be quick, but don’t query us until at least four months have passed.
Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but do let us know right away if your work is accepted elsewhere—and congrats!
If you need to withdraw anything, send us an email and we’ll remove your work from consideration.
As a new magazine, we are currently unable to pay contributors, but we hope to change this in the future.
We’re so excited to read your writing!
