Ivi Garrido, translated by Jessica Sequeira

The Fear of Remembering You

I’m not able to remember you,
and that scares me.
I’m not able to capture your voice

in my thoughts,
or reconstruct your gaze
amidst the shadows.

Your body dissolves
in the haze of time,
and for all that I try,
I can’t.
But . . .

what if remembering hurts more
than forgetting you?
